    Per ESPN.

Couldn't find the offseason thread, and figured this deserved its own.

I saw it there, but it was quickly removed ...

    Dammit.

Now I either have to stop hating the Sawx, or start hating Bobby V.

I feel the same way. I hate the Sox, but I love Bobby V. I really hope I don't have to start rooting for the Red Sox and KU football at the same time, that might be too much to take...

For the love of God, why? Fuck KU.

I agree, but if they hire Leach, after singing his praises endlessly on this board, I kind of need him to do well... :D

Bobby V? Well I give him credit for going to Japan and winning there despite the anti-American sentiment (I think they'd be happy if the Tokyo Giants won every year; kinda like Domer fans).

I was looking for someone new; a Joe Maddon type.

I think everyone figured they would hire someone new, but I don't think any of those guys blew them away.

This will certainly be interesting. Besides the personality quirks, Bobby V. has built a reputation as a genius for overachieving with mediocre talent. I think this reputation is pretty well deserved, but with this team, it will be interesting to see if he can finish the job. And no, winning titles in Japan doesn't count.

It was either BYH or spnited who hated Valentine. I can't recall which.
