Does he have a weekly spot now on Michael Kay?

The reason he couldn't get an MLB job the past decade is b/c he has no filter and GMs don't want to work with him. Ben Cherington is enjoying this as much as he'd enjoy a root canal.

Bobby V has a self-destructive bent a mile long but the man can manage. He made the World Series with an outfield of Agbayani-Payton-Timo Perez. He had four winning seasons with the Rangers, as many as they had before he got there. He got the Mets--a fucking trainwreck of an organization before and after his tenure--to their only World Series in the last 26 years.

And he's lost his clubhouse everywhere he's managed.

  5. BYH - Bobby V was also fired by Texas. As far as making the World Series with the Mets lousy outfield - Francona won a World Series with an infield of Millar, Bellhorn, Pokey Reese and Bill Mueller.

Bobby V was hired to be fired.

You don't want to be the guy to replace the guy. You want to be the guy who replaces the guy who replaced the guy.

Is that like being the guy behind the guy behind the guy?

I completely agree he was hired to be fired. Just a placeholder for Farrell or someone else.

As for Bobby V's 2000 Mets team, he won a pennant with an infield of Zeile-Alfonzo-Ventura-Bordick and a starting rotation filled with no. 2s and no. 5s. I'm not saying he's a better manager than Francona, just saying he took a team that had Mike Piazza and little else and got it to a World Series.

The jokes on Bobby V then. It seems kinda cruel.
