maybe the cocksuckery of himself finally took over.

  2. Pat Knight should be able to wipe out everything the old man did for the program.

If that's the reason, then it's gutless. He had no right to demand 100 percent out of his players, demand they work hard and demand they don't quit, if he was going to quit like this.

Classless act in a career dotted with classless acts.

Hell, there's only four weeks left in the season -- maybe five if TT catches fire and wins a tourney game or two.

If you're "tired of coaching," you kick back, mail it in, let Pat do the grunt work, sit through 8-10 more games on the bench, pack up your whistle and go home. There are plenty of coaches who don't plan to retire for 10 years who are doing that.

There's gotta be more to it.

If there isn't, one thing is sure: you can measure Pat Knight's job expectancy in weeks, too.

Right, if you're worn out you "mail it in," that's the classy way to go.

Knight may have been a classless jerk like Hondo said, but it's a tough pill for me to swallow that someone like him would just call it a career. If it was about the wins, why not do it after #900? And wouldn't you think he'd like to get to the Final Four with Texas Tech, just to stick it to Brand and IU? Now that sounds like something from the realm of Bobby Knight.

My knee-jerk reaction is that this must be something health related and he doesn't want to admit to such. If it is, I hope it isn't anything life-threatening. Lord knows how much unnecessary stress he's put on his brain & ticker.

Maybe he's going to be McCain's running mate.

Too bad winning a first-round game is beyond his realm.

If he was sick, don't you think Pat would be named the interim coach? unless it's really bad.

Pat is not interim coach...Pat was "coach in waiting" for a few years now. Pat is the head coach

Looks like one paper had this story prewritten.

For how many years, who knows?
