    The best part of Football_Bat's assertion that Bonilla is a "broke former athlete" is comparing it to Bonilla's quote about why he chose to defer:

    That was a fantastic story with great reporting. And I always like it when someone like Bobby Bonilla turns out to be wiser than you imagine them to be.

    Don't go overboard with how great the reporting was. The Wall Street Journal told the story in 2010 -- with a quote from Bonilla calling the contract "that beautiful thing" -- and I can't find much new from ESPN that isn't based on that initial WSJ report.
