Reading the "Best you've ever seen" thread made me think, would there be a place in today's NBA for Bob Pettit?

He'd have to ditch the funny-looking shorts, though.

Probably could pull down a huge endorsement deal for the Chuck Taylors, though.

    And I second Fenian's answer.

You do realize that Eric Piatkowski is still pulling down more than the President for wearing warmups from 7-10 p.m. 82 times a year right?

Never saw him play, but the most frequent comment I hear about Petit is that he was "Larry Bird, 30 years before Larry Bird."

LSU is well represented in the top fifty all-time NBA players--Pistol, Shaq, and Bob Pettit.

It's doubtful he'd be named to ten consecutive first team All-NBA today, but I'm sure he'd grab his share of rebounds. From what I've read, he was relentless on the boards The first NBA player to score 20,000 points, Pettit somehow gets overlooked when talking about former all-time greats.

    I doubt it. He's 75.

He would still beat Kwame Brown in a one-on-one game. Right now. After spotting Kwame 10 points on the way to 21.

  10. I'd rather Piatkowski were president, but that's just me.

If Bob Pettit were born 40 years later and had access to today's diet, training techniques, etc., I'd have no doubt at all.
