Everyone knows that Tony K's bunk counselour at summer camp was a young Larry Brown. That is no secret. Brown was at UNC at the time. Well if you go down the road to Camp Starlight you will find a shitload of other UNC players on the plaques in the cafeteria. Well camp counselours get tips, and guess what? I'm guessing they were the highest tipped counselours in PA and Upstate NY that summer.

That's Dean Smith's players. Dean Smith. True, they were up there to stay out of trouble and stay in shape, but trust me, they were tipped. Would they have had the position if they did not play for UNC? Probably not.

Also, you really want to open a Pandora's Box? Go to the player parking lot and see what they are driving away in after the game. That might open some eyes as well.

You forgot another good one these days: Recruiting a player's best friend as a team manager and getting him a scholarship/financial aid for that.

People always latch on to the fact he happened to be driving a truck at the time he was hired, but fail to mention that Ed Manning played pro ball for nine years, including a few for Larry Brown in the ABA so they already had a close relationship. Ed Manning also still works in the NBA and I don't think that's because any teams are hoping to snatch up Danny as a free agent.

There have been much shadier cases of a kid's parents or AAU coaches getting a job -- at KU, Duke, just about everywhere -- than the Manning situation.

Well, that and he was Denny Crum's top recruiter. He stunk as a coach, but all those great 80s teams in Louisville, Wade got a lot of them there.

Having Allan Houston as a son, however, didn't hurt.
