    What does it look like?
My Vaio froze about 20 minutes ago. I shut it down turned it on, restarted it and now I'm staring at a blue screen with some shitty design on it and it has a small white bird on the right side. The cursor is up and moves, but there is nothing on the screen to click. I need help ....

    Slappy - it's that one.
I'm going to let it sit overnight and hope it fixes itself. If it doesn't, I hope my bro-in-law can get my info off it and onto my backup drive.
Bad thing is i have the photos from one of my games I shot from Saturday on the drive ... Need them by Tuesday night

Geek Squad at Best Buy saved me once by pulling data off despite the blue screen of death. Took an hour, maybe two. Laptop was still dead (slappy will recall the Hooverian circumstances), but at least I got the info I needed. Cost was roughly 100 bucks. I was on the road and couldn't wait for a possible free alternative from a friend.

Good luck. I feel your pain.

Damn. Can't offer any technical expertise, but good luck, Rhody.

JD - when the motherboard crashed on my last laptop, my BIL got all the info off. He took out the hard drive, attached it to something and saved it to a drive. Im hoping the startup thing works, but if not I'm hoping he can do it tomorrow.

I have nothing to add to this than quoting this picture.
