No man has broken my heart the way journalism did when it was taken away from me. My heart goes out to all of you who are facing cutbacks.

But those of you who have never done anything but write, now this: you have skills that apply in the real world. I had the same fears -- even thought about getting out long before I was forced out, but wondered what I would do.

    You will survive. Believe it.

It's a smaller paper, but add 30 more (buyouts, for now) from The Register-Guard in Eugene, Ore. Some of you might have missed that round, which was announced last week.

    Hey, Baltimore's planning a redesign.

Oh, well. First time for everything.

Well, compared with what Baltimore looked like a few years ago, the current version's not bad. The trouble is why redesign when you just FUCKING DID ONE LAST YEAR??

OK, this was funny. And so likely to be real.

Apparently, the axe is falling at another Tribune paper in the next day or two...

A few years ago, that was the chain everyone wanted to work for...

    Crazy.
