Putty: Got a question? Ask the 8-ball.
Elaine: Are you going to wear that all the time?
Putty: All signs point to yes.

I've also seen people go sockless with deck shoes.

I've worn socks with mocs. My feet would pay the price otherwise.

I can't imagine wearing socks with my deck shoes.

And I have a fabulous pair of black chucks with red stitching.

So would your shoes pay the price. An average foot will produce a quarter-cup of sweat per day, which isn't good for leather. The shoes will last longer if you give them a day or two to dry between wearings -- best if you use cedar shoe trees or stuff with newsprint to absorb the wetness -- and obviously will take less abuse if socks absorb the perspiration. I suppose if you use boat shoes for their intended purpose, they're going to be exposed to salty wetness anyway. But if you wear them for non-sailing activities, they'll last longer and look less cruddy if you take care of them.

I wear canvas-topped boat shoes, no socks. I like the way they look and feel, and I can wash them to prevent smelliness.

Since when were hoodies ever out of style?
