Unspeakably tragic, based on the currently available facts. Oscar Pistorius shoots and kills his girlfriend, mistaking her for being an intruder.

I can't even imagine how you deal with the guilt.

The central question is whether Oscar Pistorius himself is a Replicant.

Could this be the same 18-year-old girlfriend who "cheated on him with coal mining millionaire and Clifton Shores producer Quinton van der Burgh...while Pistorius attended the Olympics in London."?

    Saw this on Deadspin...

I always knew Oscar was a fan of Bullet For My Valentine.

Her last words: "Not very sporting to fire on an unarmed opponent. I thought you were supposed to be good. Aren't you the 'good' man? C'mon, Oscar. Show me what you're made of."

According to the AP, it was a 30-year-old woman. And in a story from the Sydney Morning Herald, the Afrikaans-language newspaper Beeld is reporting it was Reeva Steenkamp, his girlfriend he allegedly mistook as an intruder. Obviously an all-around bad situation for all involved.

Reports are now saying he will be charged with murder.

I hate to hear this. I enjoyed watching him run this summer. I'll believe the "mistook for an intruder" defense at a later time, though.

    Sounds shady.

"I mistook her for an intruder" sounds to me like precisely the type of excuse one might concoct if forced to quickly come up with some explanation for why you just shot your girlfriend dead.

A reasonable person does not immediately start blasting away at a suspected intruder without first seeing the person, or at least sounding some prior warning telling them to go away.

I didn't buy the schlocky story sold about this guy at the Olympics. And I don't buy his story now.
