Bizarre editorial from the Northwestern student newspaper

    Ha, yeah. The trophy ain’t for the kids. It’s for the parents.

    That’s me. Born in ‘84 to parents born in ‘51 and ‘52. And my boy will probably be part of the generation that calls out whoever we define as “Gen Z” on all its nano-agressions.

    That’s why I don’t care for generational commentary. It’s a continuum. My wife, four years younger than me, has a completely different relationship with technology and social media. My brother, two years older than me, could barely figure out Zelle.

    There's a pretty specific group - folks born, say, between 1989 and 1999 - that I'd call the most progressive, strident group we've seen in a long time. When people think millennial politics, they think those folks, which are actually a mashup of Y and Z.
