Again, I haven't watched in a couple of months, but it's my understanding that they've added a small studio audience for exactly that reason.

That might be a good start. It's definitely not a show I've continued to seek out, though I might watch if I am bored and come across it.

I've been reading The Ringer pretty regularly.

Reminded me I haven't been to Deadspin in months.

It was hot trash, so not surprising.

Does anyone know how his contract was structured? Was there something written in that gave HBO a buyout?

They didn't buy him out, just canceled his show.

    Also, canceled, dammit.

I don't know how the deal works, but they ought to pay him his money and let him get to work on a 30 for 30-like project.

Maybe he can executive produce documentaries a la the stuff Ross Greeburg did for HBO, for years.

I thought that was part of his deal.

The problem with what HBO said in its statement about them still working with him to do 30-for-30 like documentaries. ... is that almost every good sports documentary idea has been done within the last decade. Or am I underestimating the appetite people will have for even the third-tier stories that haven't been touched already? Or are there just lots of good ideas out there and I am not thinking creatively enough?
