    Sucked? You don't win an Spinks by sucking. You might not have liked what he wrote but he and Ray Kelly were baseball in Philly. Conlin wasn't good at writing about other sports which is why he wasn't a great columnist. But when it came to baseball, he more than held his own MisterCreosote.

    He was much better as the beat reporter for the Phillies than as a columnist.

    You are in no position to judge me. The facts are the guy was an award-winning baseball writer. Whether you liked what he wrote as a baseball writer is a matter of opinion but those who read his work and worked with him obviously think otherwise.
