This is what I was thinking, reading the story. It's a hit piece that starts with a preconceived notion.
"Even loyal allies are shocked by his patronising attitude to Mr Obama, and believe that he risks damaging his own reputation by his intransigence."
How "loyal" would they really be? Or how hard would it be to make this up?
And I am, as I've noted here several times, an Obama supporter.

Maybe there is a reason why this story hasn't run in paper in the US. I'm not saying the guy made it up, but when the only "real person" quoted in the story is Klein, it's very fishy.

None of that makes it wrong, however. It just obscures the argument that you could be making about whether it's right.

I know someone who knows someone who was told by someone very close to John McCain that he called the pope the Child Molester in Chief.

I guess that could be right, too, based on your threshold for verifiability.
