Bill Bennett: Is College Worth It?

Discussion in 'Sports and News' started by YankeeFan, May 11, 2013.

  1. I'm sure Bennett has percentile charts and standard deviations of the data on median incomes of college graduates and those with just high school education.

Search for yourself on Google Books. I didn't see any.

Does he offer any alternatives to college? Until there's a viable non-college alternative that gives you better wages/decreased debt, he's just pissing into the wind.

  3. Everyone knows the answer is self-reliance (i.e. being born to rich parents).

And please click the link so the author will get some web hits.

I think The Bookmaker of Virtues would probably put it more like this:

The world needs casino workers too.

No, this is just part of the right-wing screech machine narrative they're pushing: "You don't really need college anyway, so pay no attention while we defund and dismantle public support for higher education so we can give more tax cuts to the One Percent."

Or we don't want your harder working kids out working our Stay Puff Marshmallows. Stay at home and don't give Buffy and Biffy too much competition.
