I fixed after you posted that. It was my bad all the way around. Although, I would hope you would have at least thought I would not have messed up the two teams that played in the best game of 2007.

The Colts went 13-1 that year and outscored their opponents 402 - 144, or basically 18 points a game. And they were coming off a 34-0 win against the Browns in the NFC championship. Couple that with with the first two Super Bowls that were both settled by more than 18 points, and an eighteen point line looks pretty damn accurate.

Maybe being able to look back at the past and what has transpired since then clouds perception, but in the reality of those days, the Colts were mammoth favorites.

Texas Western over Kentucky in the 66 final has to figure somewhere in this list.

Just to add wasn't this game in Portugal? And everyone thought that with the old guard of Luis Figo and the like sharing the field with the new generation like Cristiano Ronaldo that the "Golden Generation" was a shoe in to win.

Another soccer one: Liverpool over AC Milan in the 2005 Champions League Final. Especially when you consider that Liverpool were down 3-0 at the half and AC Milan had vastly better shooters and keeper in PK situations. (And the English never win a shoot out).

Here's two examples of historic upsets by teams that don't fit the traditional underdog role:

    1) Duke over the undefeated UNLV team in the 91 final four.

    2) Miami beating a Nebraska team widely touted as the best ever in the 84 Orange Bowl.

Also, Puerto Rico over the U.S. Olympic Basketball team in 04, officially putting the "dream team" concept to rest forever.

Actually, you could include any of about a half-dozen losses by the US in international hoops competition over the last 6 years, but the PR upset was the biggest and most jarring.
