    When was it decided that every team on the sports ticker needed a three-letter abbreviation, no more and no less? We aren’t naming airports here.

    UTA. Thank God they didn’t have to try and cram that extra “H” in there. :rolleyes:

    OTOH, I kinda miss puzzling out the abbreviated names in print box scores. “DCncpcn ss 4 1 2 1”

    Same with adding to abbreviations that clearly don't need it, a la NOP, GSW or SAS. NO, GS, SA will do, thanks.
