A cover that includes a pronunciation guide. Very thoughtful.

Am I the only one who is sick of the use of "fail" when "failure" is the correct word?

    I hope so.

It bugs me a bit, but I wouldn't say I'm sick of it. It's more like it's a nice surprise when I see the word failure.

There are other things on the Internet that really bug the crap out of me. One is the tendency on some fan boards to use initials for coaches and players, as if it's so much trouble to type out the names. But the annoying next step is when "C" is part of the reference for coaches, as in CLM for Les Miles (Coach Les Miles).

Oh, it's the height of middle-school cleverness when they do it for Urban Meyer.

  10. Some faves from papers I've worked for in the past (though I wasn't responsible for any of these):

    "Dicks Unlimited to have banquet"

One day someone ran the wrong standing header over the obits: "Calls for help"

Local baseball team swept a doubleheader. Headline read, "Twin killing." Unfortunately, some actual human twins were brutally murdered in the local area a few days before.

Once worked for a sports editor who one day didn't notice he ran the same story twice on the front page (not a headline fail, I know, but still ...)

I'll even fess up to one of my worst mistakes: I once wrote a headline that referred to "Long Peach State" winning a volleyball game or something like that.

My college paper, and trust me, it was not intentional.
