Or either one of them over Randle El. And that year still wasn't as bad as Detmer over Ismail.

Randall Cunningham for NFL MVP in 1998.

Should have gone to Randy Moss, who bailed Cunningham out of poorly-thrown passes time-after-time.

I second '95 and Vaughn over Belle. Belle had freakin' 100 extra base hits (50 hrs/50 2Bs)!!!

'95 NL Rookie of the Year (Nomo over Chipper) and '97 Heisman.

I haven't looked it up, but I'm certain that RG3 has been jobbed out of at least two or three Rookie of the Week awards.

    THAT'S BULLSHIT!

Detmer won for the same reasons that Manziel is going to win:

    (1) Big numbers; combined with
    (2) Unanticipated upset of the No. 1 team in the country.

Of course, it bears noting that Ismail led Notre Dame to an upset over that same team, Miami, a few weeks later, running back a kick for a touchdown and lining up at running back a lot of the game.

And that Ismail was a wide receiver.

That would be a good No. 3 - like Manziel-Te'o, it's QB over a position that doesn't typically compete for Heismans.

Notre Dame needs better quarterbacks, I guess. Clausen had Golden Tate and Michael Floyd in the same receiving corps, plus Kyle Rudolph at tight end, I believe, and produced back-to-back six-loss seasons.

    I like this turn.

1941 Best Picture: How Green Was My Valley over Citizen Kane and The Maltese Falcon.
1967 Best Picture: In the Heat of the Night over The Graduate and Bonnie and Clyde.
1998 Best Picture: Shakespeare in Love over Life is Beautiful and Saving Private Ryan.
