We gave it a night. That's all it was.

And Carroll would be nuts to leave USC.

I like Peterson and Boise State. But that be one heck of a leap.

One name has struck me, and it be pretty ironic if Carroll did go to the Falcons: Jim Mora.

Well, in college, Mora doesn't have to talk about playoffs.

Presuming he meant Jim Mora Jr.

UCLA allegedly was interested, and he's been mentioned as a coaching prospect with every Pac-10 opening this year.

It's probably all moot anyway. Carroll isn't likely to leave, and Mora is probably just biding his time until Ty gets the boot at UW after next season.

if carroll goes to the falcons -- a mighty big IF -- lane kiffin would bolt the raiders in a second to take over at usc, wouldn't he?

and then monte kiffin would reunite with pete to run atlanta's defense.

boy, this connecting the dots game is fun, ain't it?

Junior is grandfathered into the joke.

Re: Some teams, ahem Atlanta Falcons, never learn do they?

I can give you two ...
New England ... but he'll never get another shot there.
Indianapolis ... but my guess is they'll promote or hire from within Dungy's inner circle when he retires.
I can't think of too much more than that. Maybe Green Bay or Dallas.

Heck, I can't think of a college job that's better than Carroll's right now. He's in L.A. -- which gives a good local recruiting base and is a draw for national recruits, big dog on the West Coast, in a conference that is fairly strong, but the rest of the field is far enough below USC that the Trojans have a hold on the league. And his team is in the Top 5 every year (and I would've loved to have seen them head-to-head against LSU).

Carroll needs to be "saying stop!
    Kidding yourself,
    Wasting your time"

Maybe Carroll's getting closer to the borderline.

  12. Why the Falcons would even sniff the college ranks after Petrino is beyond shocking. There needs to be an IQ test for the decision makers in Atlanta.

By the way, maybe Jim Harbaugh was right about Carroll after all. ;)
