    Both were shallow quakes. 6 miles deep or so. Those do the least amount of damage. I was in Honduras when a 7.2 struck and it was the same, about 20 miles deep. But, yes, 6.9 is a very active quake. Wouldn't be surprised to hear of some damage, crumbled homes in Baja.

    I was in a 5.3 in Europe, of all places, in 1992. Happened in the middle of the night and woke me up. I thought somebody was trying to wake me up. The strangest thing I remember was, dead silent, no rumble, just side-to-side shaking.

    It's not the size of the quake, it's the motion in the ocean.
    "Wow! Not only did the earth move, it's STILL moving!"
    Oh, the double entendre possibilities on this thread are endless.
