Nice get for The Big Lead, working my Pipeline corners!

Media Scoop? Sports Illustrated has hired Globe NFL writer @GregABedard & they're close to hiring @JennyVrentas of the Star Ledger

Bedard to SI has been rumored/assumed here in Boston for at least a week. He will do a good job for them, as he always has everywhere he's worked. That makes three Boston NFL writers who've left for national gigs in two years (Breer, Rapoport, now Bedard).

Mike Reiss doesn't count? He might make more than any of them.

Also, Moderator1, your headline takes a step The Big Lead did not.

Last six years for Bedard: Palm Beach to Journal-Sentinel to Boston Globe to SI...

Great hire for SI. I'm ecstatic for Greg.

The writers coming out of Boston have been a hell of a lot more successful than the assistant coaches.

Tom Thibodeau is the only Boston assistant I can come up with.

Boy you're in an anal mood today.

The writers who primarily covered the New England Patriots for the Boston Globe have achieved more relative professional heights (though not similar financial heights) upon accepting new jobs than have the assistant coaches employed by the New England Patriots of Foxborough, Mass., during the roughly equivalent time frame.

My bad. Since Mike is still covering the Pats, I let his national affiliation slip my mind.

Didn't SI semi-recently let go of a bunch of people?

  10. This is evidently for the new Peter King offshoot.

So if you're scoring at home, Simmons, Poz and King have now gotten spinoff sites and are getting some pretty interesting folks to join up.

Joe Posnanski did not have any control over Sports On Earth.

Define "control." He most certainly had control or considerable influence over building the staff. Maybe not the puppetmaster Simmons is, and who knows yet what say King will have, but Poz wasn't just some guy SoE hired. I'd label him more a founding partner, with Burke and Madden.
