Big fun in the South China Sea

Last weekend, Chinese Navy ships harassed a U.S. Navy ship in international waters. Today, US Navy ships were dispatched to the area on what I hope is just a show-the-flag mission.

Hopefully, cooler heads will prevail.

 

Somehow, I don't think this will turn out like naval action in The Sand Pebbles.

 

I saw the thread title and was hoping it meant Kurt Russell was finally making a sequel to this:

Apparently this has been going on for a while, now, with the mapping ships. Fairly stupid of China; the ships are in international waters.

 

We'll get Admiral Alley on the case and rock their world.

 

I was thinking more of The Bedford Incident.

 

If our ships are in fact mapping ships. Isn't China claiming they we are spying on them?
Which isn't too far-fetched.

 

I'd be more shocked if they WEREN'T spying.
Which reminds me of the West Wing episode about the missing US sub off North Korea.
