Therein lies the dilemma for the parole board. Since the jury couldn't agree that it was premeditated, the parole board may have to just focus on the aspect of rehabilitation and is she a threat.

Maybe they let her out with the condition to not get married and stay out of chat rooms... :)

A recent This American Life podcast spotlighted longshots... and did a piece on a guy up for parole in California who was in for murder, and eligible for parole.. He was granted parole by the parole board..

But still needs to be approved by the governor.... who makes it a habit of reversing the few paroles granted.

Betty here has a real longshot.

How the jury couldn't decide this was premeditated is beyond me....

The first jury couldn't even decide if she was guilty. So it was an improvement, I guess.

    Let her out?

What if it was a man who was guilty of the same crime?

  7. That was my thought... she stole her daughter's key to the house so she could let herself in... bought a gun AND took shooting lessons.

After throwing his clothes on the lawn and burning them. And leaving harrassing phone messages. And...
