Better Sports Day: SuperBowl Sunday vs. Today (Opening Day and NCAA Men's Champ)

Was having this discussion, thought I'd post it here. Which one is better? I realize the answer could be different for a casual fan versus a big fan. Discuss. Could even open the discussion up from a professional standpoint. Which one is better/worse for covering and from a desk standpoint. Note: I was thinking of SuperBowl vesus today when it's both Opening Day and the NCAA Men's finals, not just SuperBowl versus Opening Day.

 

No doubt it's today. The Super Bowl is not a sports day, it's a party/spectacle day on which a mediocre football game is played

Baseball all day, NCAA final at night can not be beaten!

Used to be a tie between today and New Year's Day.

Now that the college football powers-that-be have pissed on Jan. 1 -- let's wait a few days to decide the national title; how about those two 8-4 teams in the Outback Bowl! -- it's today by a landslide.

 

Uhhhh, let's see. Six hours of hype followed by (three out of every four years) a horrible game that only two fanbases in the country care about, versus 12 full hours of meaningful games, including the final game of the best playoffs there are (sorry, fellow puckheads, I still think the Cup playoffs last a few years too long).

No real choice to be made there.

 

Neither. First day of the NCAA Tournament is better than both.

In the given choice, today is far and away the better sports day.

Oh, I didn't miss it. It was huge.

 

Not this year's, with only VCU-Duke to care about.

This is a great day, no doubt. But my favorite comes every weekend in October, with playoff baseball overlapping with college football going into conference play and the NFL races beginning to take form.

 

This is a great day. But it's tied with the first day of the NCAA tournament.

I'm a traditionalist. I also like Derby day and Indy 500 Sunday.
