    I'll second that emotion.

Does Genesis' "Blood on the Rooftops" count?

"Dark and grey, an English film, the Wednesday play
We always watch the Queen on Christmas Day
    Won't you stay?"

(OK, it's not a holiday track but a superb atmospheric piece. Unbeatable acoustic intro ... Steve Hackett was quickly missed)

I always thought the Band Aid piece was pretty good. EJ's "Step Into Christmas" is passable as well.

"Fairytale Of New York" is easily the leader in the clubhouse although "Do They Know It's Christmas" is a terrific song and still holds up (can't say the same for many of the participants).

And while it's amazing that Shane McGowan is still alive, it is sad to note that his partner Kirsty MacColl, who sang the immortal lines, "You scumbag, you maggot, you cheap lousy faggot" died in 2000.

  5. That song is better than every song on the list by a mile.

Do They Know It's Christmas has held up incredibly well, IMO...

The Lennon song has as well...

  9. I get chills every time the "feed the world" chorus comes around.

The song is so much better than "We Are the World" that it's not even funny...

  11. Except for "the clanging chimes of doom," which is a really bad lyric.
