Seconded, but Jack already knew that. I mostly recommended it because I wanna be invited to come over and play. ;D

Actually, I'd argue for Guitar Hero World Tour since you can download new songs. Nothing wrong with Rock Band, but there's not as much opportunity for expanded playability in the long run since it has no online support with the Wii.

It's a little more advanced the Wii Sports golf, but the Tiger Woods games are fun. Swinging the Wiimote really adds something to it.
And if you grew up with the NES (or any game system from the last 20 years), you've GOT to spend $20 or $30 on some Wii points. There's plenty of great old-school games on there for $5-$10. All the old Mario and Zelda games, 50 or 60 NES games (still no Contra or Pro Wrestling, though...Grrrrr...), and dozens of Genesis, SNES, Nintendo 64 and Turbo-Grafx 16 games.
If you like the 8-bit stuff, too, Mega Man 9 is a must get. It's a Wii Ware game (it'll cost you 1,000 Wii points, or $10), but it's in the same old style as the NES Mega Man games and is a lot of fun. Hard as hell, but that's part of the fun.

Check out Big Brain Academy. Really fun for kids and parents -- they learn spatial stuff and math and reasoning, while you keep your brain from turning to mush. It's great to play in teams as a competitive thing.

  5. There's a game that Speilberg helped produced, called Boom Blox. Basically, you throw a variety of items at towers of blocks and make them fall. Talk about a stress reliever. There is more to it than that, but it is a fun one, along with everything already mentioned.

Has anyone played Wii Music yet? Is it even out yet?

    It's out. I haven't heard good things.

Wii begs the question -- when is the first pornographic Wii game going to be produced?

    Super Mario Circle Jerk?

My oldest is 6 and i have one 3, who will need some growing before playing, but they are getting a Wii for xmas.

    Questions:
Are the Lego games easy for a 6-year-old to grasp? Mine is a whiz at the free online games at Cartoon Network and such.

Have any of you checked out the Endless Ocean game? I kinda want to get it for them because it looks cool and seems easy.

The Lego Batman/Indiana Jones/Star Wars games require some puzzle solving on some of the levels. They might be a bit advanced for your kids. Then again they're sometimes too advanced for adults :D

The 6-year old should have fun with them at least.

I bought Endless Ocean for my mother-in-law. Haven't heard much, but the reviews I saw before I decided to buy it suggested it was pretty simple: you swim around looking for sea creatures.

It might even be too simplistic for 6 and 3-year-old kids.

Lego games might be too advanced, however, due to the aforementioned problem solving component. You might be best off sticking with the games included in the console for a while. They'll last pretty well with the kids.

I'll suggest Mario Party 8. Basically it's a boatload of really simple mini-games plugged in to a really simple board game. Good for all ages, from 3 to 99.

The most simple games suggested so far would be Wii Music, Wii Play and Mario Party 8.

Super Smash Bros., Mario Kart, and Rock Band 2 are my favorite games. But I'm a college kid.

For children your age, I'd go with a Lego man series game (I've heard Batman is the best) or maybe a theme game like Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa or SpongeBob SquarePants featuring Nicktoons: Globs of Doom. The Wii is by far the best system for kids, so there are tons of options and you can likely find a game that they will enjoy based on online reviews and your children's likes/dislikes.

If you want to let the kid kill zombies, get Resident Evil 4... Gruesome, but really fun. Even my wife likes it for the point-and-shoot.
