I'm going to have to agree with the original post. Mega Man II is great. When I was in college I used to bust out the NES on breaks and this was always one of the first games I'd play because it was a favorite growing up. You can't mess with this lineup:

    # Robot Master Weapon
    09 Metal Man Metal Blade
    10 Air Man Air Shooter
    11 Bubble Man Bubble Lead
    12 Quick Man Quick Boomerang
    13 Crash Man Crash Bomb
    14 Flash Man Time Stopper
    15 Heat Man Atomic Fire
    16 Wood Man Leaf Shield

SMB3 is also a good choice. That and MM2 were 1A and 1B on when I play NES. Next time I go to my parents place I might need to take NES and bring it home with me.

Eight years on NCAA '05. Then I got '07 and started a dynasty with Boise State, where I'm in my third year.

This was more of a computer game, but how about Earl Weaver Baseball (I think I had mine for the Apple II E. And for the most recent, Out of the Park and Baseball Mogul.
More simulation, than actual action, but still great fun to play.

GoldenEye is a great game. When you're not playing against Odd Job.

Some folks have mentioned computer games. If you included those, I'd have a totally different list. Stuff like Civilization and Master of Orion and World of Warcraft.

Perfect ice hockey lineup: a skinny, a medium, and two fattys.

Best things about Blades of Steel: loser goes to the box; fight in front of the goalie gets you a penalty shot; penalty shots are slappers from the blue line.

Worst thing: "It's the pass!" every goddam pass.

Mikey, you're my boy and all, but Pitfall fucking RULED back in the day. It was cutting-edge stuff.

Pitfall II was even better, IMO.

I've had this discussion before, possibly with you, sir. I'm afraid we'll have to agree to disagree. I thought the game was stupid. I know people who loved it. I could never get into it. It's a lot better than E.T., but which game isn't?
