Exactly. I don't think Anthony wants anything to do with it.

As for the DLR solo, I really, REALLY liked both Eat 'Em and Smile and, especially, Skyscraper's B-side. Still keep songs from both on my playlists.

Speaking of the DLR era, has anyone read this? I picked it up at the library a while ago but haven't dug in yet. Not expecting it to read like Hemingway but it's gotta have some good bits.

I feel like the only way Michael Anthony comes back is if Eddie publicly grovels to make up for the long history of past slights and insults, especially the 2015 Billboard interview when EVH claimed he had to show Anthony how to play every note and then slammed Anthony’s singing voice as well.

All because Anthony had the nerve to cut a deal with a booze company to market his own brand of something. First Rule of Van Halen is only Van Halen gets to cash checks.

He probably doesn't, but it could be a nice fat check.

In 1978-80, when i was working at the immortal Happy Jack's Amoco, one of my co-workers was Steve, the bass player in one of the area's leading bar bands.
This was when VH was first starting to
    get really really big.
For whatever reason, Steve absolutely hated the fuck out of Michael Anthony. We spent many a drunken night over at the Knights' Table shithole bar, as Steve ranted on and on into the night what an absolutely dog shit bass player Michael Anthony was.

I saw Van Hagar at Kemper Arena during their 1986 tour. Good show, but Sammy wasn't Dave, and I don't think I ever bought one cassette of the new lineup. Like @ex, I'll Wait is my favorite song, just because of the drums. After that, songs off VH, VHII and Diver Down.

Epilogue: As life tends to happen, Steve and I went separate ways and lived our own lives for 35 years or so, until a couple years ago somehow or other i happened to see him in a Facebook alumni group of our common high school (he was a year behind me).

Anyway I messaged him and we traded a couple how-ya-doing messages. Then I reminded him of his drunken diatribes against Michael Anthony and pointed out after 30 years or so Eddie Van Halen had finally swung over to his viewpoint, shitcanned Anthony and replaced him with his own kid.

He LOLed and said he hadn't thought much about Michael Anthony in years. "But he still sucks," he added.
