Raging Bull is so good. I almost feel like boxing movies should be its own category.

  2. Rocky 1 and Major League.

Bull Durham and Hoosiers sit atop my list.

Bang the Drum Slowly is also there, as is Eight Men Out. Major League still makes me laugh my ass off

    Does Rounders Count?

I would be remiss if I didn't bring up Chariots of Fire

Another I will always stop to watch: When We Were Kings

Eight Men Out was a good one. And All The Right Moves gets props just for the nude Lea Thompson scene. Mmm, Lea!

The Hustler was good enough that it should have won Best Picture, in its year (West Side Story, my ass).

But I resist calling it a sports movie. It's a gambling movie, featuring a handful of the most brutal
character studies ever put on film.
