I've been replaying the version of "The Ecstasy of Gold" from Metallica's S & M album. I can't remember not only hearing, but feeling a better song from a film. The way it was done in The Good, The Bad & The Ugly was good, but if you get a chance, download the one from S & M. Metallica just recorded their own version on the tribute album to the song's composer. It's OK, but I wouldn't drop everything to hear it.

The main theme from The Last of the Mohicans.

    Stirring piece of music.

Lunatic Fringe by Red Rider ... as Louden Swain is pumping himself up for the big match with Shute, then he rams through the double-doors into the gym. Perfect song for the perfect moments in a perfect coming-of-age movie.

I wouldn't be able to call myself an ex-wrestler if I didn't include Lunatic Fringe on my top 5 movie songs list. I would list them all right now, but I can't remember the other five.

I absolutely love that song from Gladiator -- it's the only reason I bought the soundtrack several years ago.

And the version of Ecstasy of Gold on S&M is superb.

And and great call on Lunatic Fringe. That song almost saves the fact that there's no way Louden and Shute could be in the same weight class.

ThreadJack: Sportschick, Do you recall what thread Cadet wrote the line you quoted? After reading it, I'm curious what the tread was about and want to read the whole thing.
    thanks
