I almost got a little misty reading that.
Young also has a song about his dog 'Old King.'

    Three oldies-but-goodies:

Best song about a train: City of New Orleans
Best song about a plane crash: American Pie
Best song about nuclear war's aftermath: Wooden Ships

I thought we were talking about strippers ...?

Plane crashes = pretty limited selection

However, train songs are abundant. I love 'City of New Orleans,' but what about 'Freight Train' or 'Rock Island Line' or 'Casey Jones'? Just to name a few.
As for nuclear holocaust, I love 'Wooden Ships,' but I also love 'Morning Dew' and 'Hard Rain's Gonna Fall' and 'Talkin' World War III Blues.'

What about best song about murder?
'Down by the River' - Neil Young
'Ballad of Hollis Brown' - Bob Dylan
    'Midnight Rambler' - Rolling Stones
'Country Death Song' - Violent Femmes
    'Psycho Killer' - Talking Heads

I'm going with 'Hollis Brown,' but that is a fertile topic for songwriting.

I like to imagine American Pie is about strippers.

    A long long time ago
    I can still remember how
That music used to make me smile (I mean, clearly stripper music)
And I knew if I had my chance
That I could make those people dance (see! Stippers!)
And maybe they'd be happy for a while (this line is probably about boners!)

But February made me shiver (I mean, February's cold, even on the way to a stripclub)
With every paper I'd deliver (hmm....)
    Bad news on the doorstep
I couldn't take one more step (ahhh, see, this is why he needs to go to strip clubs. All good)

    I can't remember if I cried
When I read about his widowed bride (who's now a stripper)
Something touched me deep inside (that's action you can only get in the champaign room)
The day the music died (because they're back in the champaign room)
    So

Bye, bye Miss American Pie (....pie)
Drove my Chevy to the levee but the levee was dry (uggg, no one likes a dry stripper....)
And them good ole boys were drinking whiskey and rye (clearly at a strip club)
Singin' this'll be the day that I die
This'll be the day that I die (ehhh, let's face it. strip clubs are depressing places anyway. Probably proper sentiment.)
