    You mean Pete Seger?

hahaha, well, you're obviously not the only one to think that on the board. Upon being told I was going to see Seger (write that correctly five times fast), IJAG wondered if I was 70, tone-deaf or retarded.

Sure, he's written some schlock--"Shakedown" makes me cringe--but I dare you not to be moved by Night Moves or You'll Accompany Me or The Fire Inside.

Stranger In Town is an incredible album.

Turn The Page is a beautiful song. Beautiful Loser.

Like A Rock (its overplay hurt it for sure) is a tremendous piece.

That dare's not much of a challenge, my friend.

I have to agree with you here.

There's a limited edition of the new CD that contains a DVD with, among other things, the videos for "Fire Inside" and "Like A Rock." After hearing the same 30 seconds of that song for 20 years, I'd forgotten how good the rest of it is, and particularly that incredible guitar solo near the end.

And Fire Inside is beautifully written with a killer final verse:

Like wind on the plains, sand through the glass
Waves rolling in with the tide
Dreams die hard and we watch them erode
    But we cannot be denied
    The fire inside

I don't have a single one of those albums, which makes me feel pretty good about my tatste in music.

  7. I'm in the spame spot and I'd love to draw the same conclusion ... but I know every word to 'Karma Chameleon" and "Miss Me Blind." That's a major disqualifier. Dammit.

Two great albums that flew under the music mainstream radar this year:
    - Slaid Cleaves "Unsung"
    - Kasey Chambers "Carnival"

I'll add the new Tragically Hip album, World Container, to that too. Best Hip album in years.
