AP picks Radiohead's "In Rainbows" as top cd pick of the year.

    Top 10 list is:

    1) Radiohead-In Rainbows
    2) Modest Mouse-We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank
    3) Spoon-Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga
    4) Panda Bear-Person Pitch
    5) Feist-The Reminder
    6) Wilco-Sky Blue Sky
    7) Rilo Kiley-Under the Backlight
    8) Amy Winehouse-Back to Black
    9) Are you the Destoyer-Hissing Fauna
    10) Menomena-Friend or Foe

    What about the Foo Fighters?

I don't know that I'd call Feist or Amy Winehouse "rock."

Not to mention that Tori Amos' album was better than Feist's, and yea, the Foo Fighters were snubbed.

I haven't heard of half those bands.

I can't believe that Timbaland's Shock Value is getting no love from any of the critics as one of the best picks of the year. Also, Springsteen's Magic is getting no love either.

....and AP forgot Arcade Fire's Neon Bible.

And yeah, I agree with the snub of the Foo Fighters.

Begs to wonder, just who is selecting the top picks. Did they honestly put their IPOD or MP3 dowloads list down? Seems like it to me...

And is Kanye going to start a rant because of the AP snubbing his Graduation CD?

Don't get me wrong, I like Feist for a laid-back and relaxed mood, but I'd hardly call it rock.

I don't agree with Modest Mouse at No. 2. It was a good album, but not a great one. They're at their best when playing floating-out-in-space type rhythms. "We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank" had a more anthemic feel a la "Float On." How they could put that above Spoon and the Foo Fighters is beyond me.

  8. The Hold Steady - Boys and Girls in America. Not sure if it came out in 2007 or late 2006, but it's tremendous.

It came out in October '06, I think.

    Ok, I'll throw in:

The Black and White album by The Hives
Icky Thump by the White Stripes
Echoes, Silence, Patience and Grace by Foo Fighters
Chase This Light by Jimmy Eat World
    Riot! by Paramore
It's a Bit Complicated by Art Brut
Favourite Worst Nightmare by The Arctic Monkeys
No World For Tomorrow by Coheed and Cambria

That Spoon record is one of the best I've heard in a long time.

Also nominate Ted Leo / Pharmacists - Living with the Living

Also, Spoon has a song called "Finer Feelings" in which part of the chorus and part of the reason for the song is the narrator reading the Memphis Commercial Appeal.

    Another candidate: The National's "Boxer"
