    "I cannot say that for the newspaper." -- local high school athlete a few years back after I ask him about the conversation in the huddle after he and the QB hooked up for their TD of the game (they never passed the ball). I then ask him what was said even if it was not for the newspaper. He says the QB told him he would "shit his pants" if they did it again. Then they did for a fourth time.

    I may have posted this in another thread before, but anyway:

    Our local small-college baseball coach was going for his 1,000th career win a few years back, but his team was terrible and it took him several weeks longer than expected to reach the milestone. Wins 997, 998 and 999 were all in come-from-behind fashion. The coach, when asked about this phenomenon, replied:

    "The only thing I like doing from behind is fucking."
