    There once was a sports editor in Virginia who used the name "Matt Burns" whenever he covered wrestling.

    Our youth services director wrote a letter from a "sixth grader" and she used her middle name and her maiden name. I didn't find out until we'd already run the page that it was her with a pen name.

    I wasn't too happy about that...

    When I and my former editor at a college pub were getting our pub critiqued by the incoming dean of the J-school, he suggested that we use pseudonyms because otherwise it's "the f_t and [editor] show." I never thought I'd hear a J-school's dean-designate suggest I use a pseudonym.
