Tony, if you go to CSPAN's "Q&A" page, I think you might be able to track down a transcript of Brian Lamb's interview with the recent Coolidge biographer.

I think MSNBC also lists Obama among the most influential of the Founding Fathers. :D

  3. This ...
    The eight years eliminated Coolidge.

The biographer is Amity Shlaes. She is actually the reason Coolidge was on my mind when I clicked on this thread. I haven't read her book yet, but she is out promoting it.

    Sorry about that. My bad.

  7. All time best presidents would have to include William Henry Harrison. Died too soon to mess anything up.

  8. I posted a link here to George Will's column on Silent Cal, written in reference to Shlaes books.

Dude saved the fucking planet and he's not on the list?

I'd opt for President Dave. Was supposed to be a caretaker, but ended up being his own man, and gave Sigourney Weaver the attention she deserved

Not picking an argument, but what is your source(s) for that? I had always heard Eisenhower wanted Brown to go the way it did, primarily because Stalin had recently offered Soviet citizenship to any African American who wanted it and it was going to be a major embarrassment to the U.S. if any of them took him up on it.
