Rice obviously holds several records but he also played much longer -- which is a given when you compare WRs and RBs.

But I'd put Dickerson's first 7 years against Rice's first 7 years any day. After that Dickerson was shot.

 

That was ONE season. The original question was not "most deserving single season" to not win one. It was "best player", which I take as meaning the player's entire career counts.

The best overall player never to win one was clearly Jerry Rice, this is not debatable amongst reasonable people.

 

Oh, so then Peterson's attempt at the record shouldn't mean quite as much as Brees' numbers this year?
