Watching Bonds and A-Rod last night made me wonder who is the athlete who is best on and off the field. Who doesn't cheat on a spouse, use drugs, get cranky with media, get into off-field scrapes with the law, and is a genuinely good person while still performing his or her sport at the highest level?

    Any nominations?

Peyton Manning, Paul Pierce and Marvin Harrison off the top of my head. I'm sure there are many more.

Walter Payton epitomized what you're looking for, IMO.

C'mon. The only thing he's ever been guilty of his throwing his teammates under a bus after a loss. Other than that, he's been an exemplary professional.

Can't even say Tom Brady anymore because of the fucking around with multiple women.

Just kidding. He's seems like a decent guy. But I can't believe you didn't think of Sweetness first.

Because he's dead. I figured this was for active athletes only.

I can't even say Urlacher. Tommie Harris, maybe.

Twelve years ago, Kirby Puckett would have been a popular answer.

How about we just decline to answer because we have no idea what goes on behind the scenes for the good guys, the bad guys and everyone in between.

Don't think that used to be a negative mark in the old days for a single guy. See: Namath,Joe.

Rex Grossman wouldn't say Tommie Harris.
