I did not vote seeing as I only went to the movies twice this year (M:I:III hung over as hell, Miami Vice with the former little lady) and I'm kind of upset because there are quite a few I wanted to see. However, the internet and torrents have also made me lazy.

This has been the worst year for movies I can recall.

What, no X3: The Last Stand?

I think we need a worst movie you've seen thread just for that one.

The sad part is Superman Returns was just as disappointing.

Brian Singer should have stuck to X-Men movies and saved me two mediocre moviegoing experiences.

I got dragged kicking and screaming to X-Men (also while savagely hungover) and actually enjoyed it for the celluloid Big Mac it was.

I pick on it, but I actually enjoyed it for the same reasons...but it was annoying and entertaining at the same time, if that makes any sense.

Little Miss Sunshine. Poignant and hilarious.

This was the worst summer for movies ever... I think the best two I saw were Cars and Devil Wears Prada... Everything else like Superman Returns, The Break-Up, MI:3 were all horseshit...

Between Borat, The Queen, The Prestige, The Departed it's been pretty good the last two months...

I didn't seen Good Night and Good Luck until DVD, so that counts as 2006 for me.

Miami Vice was boring. Poseiden blew. My wife had me watch The Lake House and I wanted to kill myself. Larry the Cable Guy was entertaining along the lines of Ernest-quality movies, albeit not as family-friendly. Hollywoodland was a glorified HBO movie.

So, Ed Murrow and Superman are the two best movies I've seen this year. I love Superman and saw it five times, but I'm under no impression that it's the greatest thing in cinema.

I'm left with Casino Royale and Rocky Balboa (and The Black Dahlia on DVD).

Haven't seen The Departed yet, so I went with LMS. But Alma, why no love for Talladega Nights? You've got Borat on the list, so I know you're not going all high-brow on us. Or is that what you mean by "some summer blockbuster" (in which case your polling is pretty biased)?.

The only Summer Blockbuster that might even make any top 10 lists is Cars... I think United 93 came out pre Memorial Day... Devil Wears Prada is good, but I doubt anyone considers it one of the best of the year...
