I know they get flamed here but the ending to the original Saw movie is, and will likely always remain, the best ending to a movie I've ever seen.

I'm the kind of movie goer who can usually pinpoint exactly how things are going to wrap up but that movie had me on the edge of my seat and literally dropped my jaw when I watched it for the first time.

It was the perfect ending, a suspenseful ending set up in the first few scenes and in your face the entire time.

And I still can't think of Jigsaw saying "Game Over!" without getting chills.

(Side note: Whenever I think of this ending, I like to pretend Saw 3 never happened).

A seasonal choice: "Miracle on 34th St."

  5. Blair Witch Project

And I'll second Big Fish and Clue.

Rocky II. Yeah, you figure Rocky's winning. But I still love the part where Creed slumps down at nine while Rocky wobbles to his feet.

For historical reasons, the original "Great Train Robbery." Considering it was in 1903, the guy shooting the gun at the camera was a heck of a special effect, and scared the shit out of a lot of moviegoers.

"A League of Their Own", where all the players meet at the Hall of Fame.

"Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey": Where they play "God Gave Rock and Roll to You, followed by the closing credits of all the newspaper and magazine clippings.

And I'm sure I have others. These are off the top of my head.

Another vote here for Rocky II (best bout these eyes have seen on the big screen... the packed house in the theater was standing and cheering as if we were all actually there).

Saving Private Ryan -- "earn this" (wow, dust flies every time)

The Mist -- loved the non-happy ending.

Sixth Sense -- had me, hook, line and sinker.

I'll throw another vote in for The Sting.

"You gonna stick around for your share?"

    "Nah, I'd only blow it."

First Rocky ending was pretty good too: underdog gives the champ hell for 15 rounds and loses but gets the girl.
