The transition from Heartbreaker to Living Loving Maid is one of my favorite riffs in a car. Though every once in a while some amateur hack DJ won't play it as one song, stopping after Heartbreaker. Heresy.

They never played Living Loving Maid live.

  8. Damn, I'd have to say "Stairway to Heaven" is the greatest classic rock song of all-time.

I forgot about Babe I'm Gonna Leave You. The part where Plant sings Baby,Baby etc. is amazing.

Love, love that song. That said, I'm the lone vote for Tangerine at the moment.

Everyone liked Led Zep in the 1970s, so I didn't intentionally listen to them, but it was unavoidable if you attended parties or listened to FM radio. (I held off on Springsteen for the same reason, finally caving in 1978 when I had to admit the masses were right in that rare instance.) They were like second-hand smoke to me, and the annoyance factor of a daily dose of Stairway to Heaven induced a reflexive changing of stations within three or four notes by around 1979. I picked Immigrant Song. I'd usually listen to that. My wife is a big fan, though. The things we do for love.

My favorite? A song that I don't think has been mentioned yet - the hard rock classic "Dancing Days." It has been said that the band deliriously danced in joy on the Stargroves lawn after first hearing it.

Like someone mentioned, you can't go wrong with any Zeppelin material from I, II, III, IV, Houses of the Holy, or Physical Grafitti. After that, they weren't quite the same (for a number of reasons) but Presence and In Through the Out Door Coda are still tremendous albums. And Coda, an album with outtakes recorded years before its release, would be a greatest material album for 99% of bands.
