best guitar player ... if we dare go here

Discussion in 'Anything goes' started by everybody duck, Jul 25, 2007.

  1. this is such a subjective list but ... i'll drop Stevie Ray out there as a no. 1
  2. I don't know how anyone can be better than Hendrix. Not my favorite but he's gotta be the best.

Nels Cline is pretty damn good.
David Gilmour isn't maybe technically the best, but I love his playing.
  5. Robert Cray, Jimmy Page, Todd Park Mohr

Funny idea ... an all-time guitar gods smackdown – on those cheap-ass Esteban infomercial guitars.

How did we get this far without a mention of Clapton?

  12. OK, Clapton fans, please do me a favor.

I've been hearing from people my whole life how Clapton is the best guitar player ever. While I've heard stuff from Cream etc. that makes him perfectably respectable in my book, can someone please point out a track that says "GREATEST OF ALL TIME."

I don't remember ever really being completely blown away by him ...
