Best fringe Simpsons character?

I liked Bleeding Gums Murphy, too.

 

That's fair. Then my all-minor character team features Troy McClure, Sideshow Mel, Reverend Lovejoy, Nelson and, of course, Kang. Or possibly Kodos.

 

I'll go one further: the fringe of the fringe roles ... and Kang and Kodos make me laugh every single time.

I dont see how Milhouse, Lenny, Patty and Selma, Nelson, Moe, Barney or Carl can be "fringe" character...
Ol' Gil would be a great fringe character

 

I guess my thread title was misleading. My bad. What I meant by fringe was anyone outside of the family. If their last name isn't Simpson, they are in the mix.

Fringe should be just that, fringe. Ralph, Nelson, Milhouse, Burns, Smithers, they're second-tier players. Gil, Comic Book Guy (overrated), Frink, those are fringe guys.
