All the worlds indeed a stage
    And we are merely players
    Performers and portrayers
    Each anothers audience
    Outside the gilded cage

WDVE taught me well growing up.

  3. Actually, Entwistle plays all the horn parts on the Who's records, including trumpet and French horn. (He plays the sourest note in the history of recorded music at the end of the overture from Tommy.)
    My three:

    1) The Ox.
    2) Larry Graham
    3) Duck Dunn.

Absolutely. He's one of the main reasons I listened to Yes in college. The dude is amazing.

I second the Cliff Burton nomination. Bell-bottoms and all.

I think Sting should be somewhere on here too.

And while I supported Peter Criss somewhat in the drumming section, I have to admit that Gene is pretty mediocre as well.

PHINJ, thanks for mentioning Stanley Clarke. With a final addition of Ray Brown, I think we have the jazz category covered.

If you noticed, I didn't list a single bassists who was actually worth a shit. It is my sad pathetic attempt at a thread jack.

I think Entwistle would be the runaway winner, with Cliff Burton being the runner-up...
