that one's interesting in terms of how it continues to affect both franchises.

Rogers eventually netted the A's Terrence Long, who eventually netted the A's Mark Kotsay, who eventually netted the A's Joey Devine. That's three players who were key A's, with Devine likely to become the fourth.

And Brosius had a completely unexpected bounceback World Series MVP season as a free-agent-to-be in 1998, which led the Yankees to sign him to a three-year deal and trade Mike Lowell, the prospect who was supposed to take over 3B in 1999. There was no internal solution once Brosius retired after 2001, so the Yankees went with Robin Ventura for a season-and-a-half until they got Aaron Boone, who put them into the World Series in 2003 and then blew a knee out playing hoops, which necessitated the acquistion of A-Rod.

What happens if Lowell comes up and thrives at 3B? Instead, he goes to the Marlins and then to the Red Sox, where he has his own completely unexpected career season and wins the World Series MVP in his walk year to earn............that's right, a three-year deal.

    Weird, wild stuff.

two months of Colon for Lee, Sizemore & Phillips? Worked out well for Cleveland, Cincinnati, and Omar Minaya.

Gio Gonzalez was one of the two minor leaguers the Phillies got in that deal, but the White Sox got him back in the Freddy Garcia trade. Chicago also got Gavin Floyd in that trade for Garcia, so it is turning out pretty well for the White Sox.
