Monte, you have anything to add.

    Uh ... no.

For the list: Hawk and whomever is with him for the Sox broadcast. I wish we had a vomiting emoticon.

RIP Joe. Still makes me misty.

Today, Marty and Thom Brennaman are outstanding. It's a treat to me to hear the father-son thing. And when Thom isn't there, Jeff Brantley is good. His slow southern drawl goes very well with radio.

Here in Toronto there would be plenty:

Bill Hewitt and Bob Goldham on HNIC way, way back in the day....Tom Cheek and Jerry Howarth on Jays' radio....Dan Shulman (before ESPN) and Buck Martinez on Jays TV and Jim Hughson was a pretty good baseball PBP guy too....Joe Bowen and Harry Neale doing the Leafs games on TV.

Honourable mention to Van Miller doing PBP for the Bills radio. I'd always tune in to him - even though I despise the Bills - if they were blacked out.

I grew up with Jack Brickhouse, Vince Lloyd and Lou Boudreau as a little kid and then, from high school up until 10 years ago, with Harry Caray and Steve Stone. Stone and Caray were entertaining as hell and made thousands of shitty Cubs performances watchable.

Ralph Strangis and Darryl Reaugh do a pretty good job on Dallas Stars' broadcasts.

The pbp guys in Buffalo and Edmonton are a lot of fun to listen to as well.

Well, there isn't a big market where I live.

However, Dan Robertson, Paul MacDonald and Matt Beardsley are the best at QMJHL games and John Moore is another great one who does play by play on radio.

Jack Miller in Belleville is the dean of OHL radio guys. Jim Gilchrist in Kingston is great too. And a sharp dresser too.

And you'd never have any idea what was happening on the field... exccept whether "we" were winning or losing.

    Two balls and a strike.

You know what they had on TV today, White?

    Bridge on the River Kwai.

Everyone should have gotten an Academy Award for that movie.

I don't know how many times I've seen it.

    About forty times.

    Alec Guinness!

    William Holden!

    Three and one the count.

    I just heard somebody whistle.

    You know that song?

    That's what they whistle.

    Nobody out.

    And he pops it up.
