Best 2013 movie you've seen

Notice it does not say "Best movie you saw in 2013 since a lot of the best "2013" movies are just coming out now, unless you live in NYC or LA, and I don't...

Right now, my runaway winner is Lone Survivor, which is just fucking incredible.

I love war movies, but this one is just awesome.

Wahlberg is great. Ben Foster is Oscar-level good. Emile Hirsch is in it. Eric Bana, and Taylor Kitsch, the QB from Friday Night Light is very good.

12 Years a Slave, with Mud as my number two.

Other 2013 movies that I've seen:

    Gravity
    Blue Jasmine
    American Hustle
    This is the End
    Star Trek
    The World's End
    Inside Llewyn Davis

Movies still on my list to see:

    Her
    Nebraska
    Wolf of Wall Street
    Frozen
    Rush
    Don Jon
    Fruitvale Station
    Before Midnight

We didn't go to the movies much this past year.
I really liked 'This is the End,' and 'Side Effects' was good.

There's discrepancy online on if Frances Ha is a 2012 or 2013 movie. If we're considering it a 2013 film, I'd go with that.

Inside Llewlyn Davis, Wolf of Wall Street and This Is The End are right there.

Mud would be mine, followed by Wolf of Wall Street.

I want to go see Inside Llewlyn Davis and Her.

Gravity was visually spectacular but lacking a bit in the script.

If you have an iPhone, ask Siri what she thinks of Her.

Siri told me she hadn't seen it yet. Seriously.

I really liked 'Wolf of Wall Street' and 'American Hustle.'
    I saw them in 2014, but they're 2013 movies.

    12 Years A Slave, I guess.

Movies just don't do it for me anymore though. TV is where it's at.

Mud never blew me away. It was good, but not great.

What makes it top your list?

Seen a few movies, but Gravity was the best for me. It was my first IMAX 3D movie, and I felt like a schlub for dodging flying debris. In my defense, though, I think I dodged most of it.

Glad you mentioned Mud. I forgot about that one. It definitely belongs on my list of best movies of 2013.

Haven't seen 12 Years A Slave. Plan to. I'm sure it is awesome.

I'd have to put Wolf of Wall Street at the top of my list, though I think there's plenty of better movies last year. I enjoyed it more than American Hustle and Gravity.

Frozen, but it might be the only 2013 movie I saw. Oh wait, I also saw Monsters University.

Seriously though, Frozen will be a great Broadway musical at some point in the next few years.
