Bringing this over from the other thread because it's worth mentioning. It's almost the same for the Phillies. Counting Victorino (a Rule 5 guy) and Werth (signed as a mediocre 26-year old free agent three years ago who has blossomed with the Phils), there's seven "homegrown" players in the lineup. Ibanez and Feliz are the only ones who spent the best years of their career elsewhere.
If you want to count signed/drafted guys, and include the pitcher, five of tonight's starting nine fall in that category.
Four of the Dodgers' eight regular position players were drafted by the team. Two of their starting pitchers, too.
Seems there's lots of "good guys" still left.

If Iannetta ever starts (he won't, but should), the Rockies could conceivably field a team of 9 homegrown guys (depending on how you count Carlos Gonzalez...)

They have the smallest payroll of the teams left, which was my reasoning behind it. They just don't have the same resources of some of the other teams. I know that doesn't guarantee success and I understand that there's a great amount of debate around these parts and want NOTHING to do with that one, but of the teams left, the Rockies are the most similar to the Twins.

I gotcha. As a Phillies phanboi, though, it rubs me a little when people lump them in with the likes of the Red Sox and Yankees. Yeah, they're a big market team and they've started to lock up some of their big guns with big money. But this group has still gone through "the process" of winning (very similar to their 1980 championship team), and it's been fun to watch them do it over the last five years or so.

Hey YGBFKM, you see our least-favorite ChiSox is out there pitching for the Rox? Maybe we can unload Josh Fields on them too.

The biggest difference, to me, is that the Phillies will be able to keep their young stars. The Rockies can keep one or two of them and will have to jettison the rest when they get too costly. I do like that the Phillies utilized their farm system well, though.
