Beatles, Stones or Led Zeppelin? (or someone else?)

The Kinks were better than Zep and the Who.

  2. The Beatles.

    Led Zeppelin.

    The Stones.

At their best, the Stones were better than the other two. The Stones, though, stuck around WAY too long. I contend that the Stones have made more bad music than any other band in history. I think, though, that at their best, the Beach Boys were the best. Sadly, the Beach Boys' best lasted about a year and change.

    This is not even debatable.
If it weren't for what the Beatles did, the rest of them simply don't exist.

My favorite is Zeppelin, easily. I don't know enough of the Stones or Beatles to call any one of the three the best.

    Beatles, easy.

I know I'm alone on this, but I hate Robert Plant's voice.

Good observation. I'm not much of a Stones fan -- I don't think they've done anything meaningful since Some Girls (more than 30 years ago) -- but that string of albums was most impressive.

Unrelated thought: U2 has to be part of the greatest band discussion if for no other reason than they haven't made the same album/CD twice in an era in which a lot of bans start "mailing it in" with their fourth or fifth release.

    The Who.

I love all three, and I would throw The Who and Pink Floyd up there, too.

But The Beatles are the greatest, in my mind, and it's not even that close.

But that was over 4 years (Beggars' Dec. '68, Exile - May '72).
How about this outburst of music from CCR:
    Green River (Aug 1969)
    Willie & the Poor Boys
    Cosmos Factory (July 1970)
Three killer albums in less than a year.
If you want to add a fourth, you either go Jan. 1969 for Bayou Country or Dec. 1970 for Pendulum.

    Beatles
    Stones

    the Who and Led Zep

Can't stand the Beatles. Never have liked them.

Led Zep is my preference of the three, mainly because of the heavy blues music influence and Stones would be second.
